The AbilityOne® Program is among the largest sources of employment in the U.S. for individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities. Established in 1938, the Program is administered by the U.S. AbilityOne Commission®, an independent Federal agency whose statutory name is the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled.

The Commission has designated National Industries for the Blind and SourceAmerica® as central nonprofit agencies to help administer the Program. Bestwork Industries for the Blind, Inc. (Bestwork) is one of many nonprofit agencies participating in the program, and is authorized to distribute AbilityOne^® Program products to Federal customers as required by FAR 8.7. The AbilityOne^® logo carries the connotation that the product is on the Federal Procurement List.
